You're So Lucky that I'm Bad at Math!

Or, my first bloggy giveaway!

UPDATE: I will close entries for this giveaway at 12:00 midnight EST tonight (Thursday, January 15). Any comments posted after 12:00 EST will not be eligible for the drawing. Look for the winner tomorrow morning.
In the interest of fairness and full disclosure - any commenter with multiple comments will be counted only for their first comment. Any repeat comments will be passed over and a that number will be assigned to the next comment. Fair?

This has been SO exciting for me! I can't wait to see who wins the collection. Good luck!

Bear with me. If you know me at all you know I have to tell a long drawn out story!

I did some Christmas shopping on-line and couldn't resist buying some goodies for myself. I got a CD and a book on CD for my brother, and added Selah's Christmas CD, and a collection of their music for myself.

(photos from CURB records)

When I went to checkout - I thought the total was a bit higher than I anticipated. I looked through my shopping cart again and thought. "Well, that must be right." It's not like I was going to do math to verify the total so I finished the transaction and moved on.

Days later, the package arrived and the math mystery was solved.
I had clicked on the Selah Collection twice! Ahhh.

I thought about sending it back, or giving it to a friend, or even selling it to a friend... and I didn't know what to do. So I left it on my dining table while I took the other copy to keep me company for the drive home.

Let me tell you, this group is AMAZING!

God surely used Selah to help mend my heart while driving. I left Denver feeling very bitter about Mr. Burns, and about going home for a Christmas holiday that I originally thought would include bringing my fiance home to my family.

This music helped to bring me back to God's center. At the very moment I realized that, God nudged me and said, "Give the extra copy to someone who needs it. Give it away on your blog."

That makes all the sense in the world. So my bloggy friends - leave a comment on this post if you would like to have an amazing collection of beautiful Christian music. If you must comment anonymously, please leave some distinguishing information in your comment in case of multiple anonymous entries. Oh - and if you live near me, you must allow me to deliver it in person!
I will select the winner using a random number generator - and announce the winner... hmmm, let's see... this Friday.

Now let me share just a little bit more.

I usually don't like Christian music. There have been a few artists over the years that have reached me - but typically, listening to a Christian radio station I can't bear more than two songs.
To me... they all sound like a teenager's bad poetry or something. It's just. So. Bad. I always thought maybe I wasn't blessed with the grace of God to overlook what I found as corny lyrics and find the message.
I told a few friends about this - and I think they were a bit offended because they listen to Christian music exclusively! Perhaps it was my heart that needed change.

So with that heavy criteria in mind, it is high praise when I say - This collection is beautiful! Their voices are truly ordained by God for the ministry. Amazing voices.

And the lyrics? Brilliant. Truly inspired. There is not one bad song in the entire 4 CD collection.

I really want someone to enjoy this collection as I do.
One entry per reader, please.

God Bless!

edited to add: the 4 CDs are #1 Be Still My Soul - a collection of Hymns, #2 Press On, #3 Hiding Place, #4 Bonus Disc - also known as the Duets CD.

Does this include their hymns? I have heard some of them and thought they were beautiful.

I would love to win this set.....Selah is a relatively new artist for me, but what I have heard I do really enjoy....thanks!

What kind of secular music do you prefer? Anymore there are so many different types of "Christian" music out there that isn't played on the radio. :-) Depending on what time you listen to the radio also. Late at night, they play the fun stuff (at least where I live).

I totally agree with you on Christian music in general, two or three songs is typically my limit. However, I ADORE Selah, and have been wanting to buy this set (it's on my wish list) but other necessities have to come first.

I admire you in your faith, through all the turmoil of your last year. I feel as though I am a bit of a fallen Catholic, only going to mass once or twice a month. I need to find His grace again, or at least "let it back in".

Thank you...

If I win, will you deliver it in person!? That would be better than the CD's. :)

I'll admit i'm skeptical (as I've always had the same thoughts you've had with respect to "christian" music), but you've piqued my interest, such that I'll enter the giveaway... :) Let's hope I win and it can soften my 33 and single attitude in Pittsburgh too! :)

Sounds like a great CD to add to my collection!

I would love this!
I just recently discovered Selah but I don't own any of their music.

First time commenter, but I've been reading for about the last month. I love your blog and I've been silently cheering you on. I started reading after your post on Rocks in My Dryer, and I got hooked.

I'm a married mom of one, but there's something about your writing and life that I can relate to...

Thanks for the giveaway.

I would love the cd, and regarding the Christian music thing, do you like Casting Crowns? I think they are wonderful and I don't listen to ONLY Christian music. You may enjoy them. Just a thought! By the way, I wish I lived close enough for you to deliver! That would be awesome. However, if you wanna take a vacation to the Gulf Coast, come on! I've got a spare bedroom, lol!

I live a bit too far for a personal delivery, but I'm hoping you're willing to ship to Canada! I'm a loyal reader since your post on Rocks in My Dryer. :)

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier! I completely enjoy reading your blog and added you to google reader so I don't miss anything, lol.

Btw, I love Selah since I heard a song by them for the first time, back in 2002!
Would you ship to the Caribbean...? :D

I live in the Northern part of Japan and right now we have about 4 feet of snow on the ground with more to come until the big melt in March...however if you want to do a home delivery, I have an extra room and you would absolutely be welcome! (I've followed your blog since you posted at Rocks in my Dryer. I've also copied that post and given it to several married friends that don't seem to know what to do with me :-) I love Selah and I know shipping to Japan is expensive but if you can ship it to my parents in Tennessee, they can get it to me the rest of the way....that is if I win and all! Thanks for your testimony and for the giveaway!

Gosh, I totally agree with you about the 'typical' Christian music - sometimes it seems like the artists are trying so hard to imitate secular sounds . . . I suppose it's hard to be original. That's why I much appreciate worship music - the focus is on praising God vs. just sounding cool or something. Not to say I don't listen to secular, but when I want to listen to Christian music, I just like worship :)

Selah would be a great addition to my CDs as well.

And too bad I'm too far away from you to delivery it person as well!

Cool! I'm kinda like you as far as liking Christmas music so it would be nice to discover some that I could love.

I would love to win! Now you know not to lump all Christian music together!! I am glad your math was terrible--mine is too!!

I would love to add this to my collection!!!

I've been reading your blog for a few months now and really enjoy it! There is some great "Christian" music out there but some of it is pretty cheesy...I won't name any names. :) I'd love to have the Selah collection...want to make a trip to Kentucky?! :) I do live in the big city of Louisville (pronounced Lou-uh-vull for those of you not familiar with it!)

Ooh, good idea! I'd love to win this (of course...why else would I be commenting?). I'm not big on Christian music either, but I think I've liked Selah when I've heard it before...

I usually dislike Christian music for the same reasons you stated, so I'm taking your word for it on this collection and hoping to win!

On Christian music, have you tried the Taizé hymns? Their repetitive nature soothes my anxiety and puts me on a prayerful mode many, many times.

Anyway, this 32 year-old single wishes to enter the giveaway. I do not know Selah's work, but you have made me curious :-)

Sign me up! I have heard a little of Selah's music and love it, and would LOVE to own the collection!! Thanks for your blog, too. I've never commented, but I love reading almost daily =)

Anonymous said...

Please enter me. :) I love Selah's music, but don't own any - yet. I might have to go buy the collection if I don't win. Awesome giveaway!

cool! I just recently rediscovered Christian music... and have been on the lookout for good stuff. I would love to give Selah a try!

What's with the heavy concentration of Shannons coming from a blog by a Shannon. I think we are just in love with our own name!! :)

I feel exactly the same way about our Christian music station and thought there must be something too secular about me to enjoy it entirely. I have been listening more though as I love praise music and sing with our church team now. I don't yet know Selah's music but a close friend of mine(my single friend that reminds me of you as a matter of a fact) played a song of theirs for me once because she loved it sooooo. And it was quite good.

I have recently discovered Brandon Heath and he is my fave new(and lone so far) Christian artist. So genuine seeming with fab lyrics as well!

I'm rooting for good ole number me on this one! I really only win cake walks though.
