Go see SlumDog Millionaire.

Seriously. It's great.
Then come back here and tell me what you thought of it.

I so want to see this movie, but haven't yet. One of the girls in my small group is from Mumbai, and said that it is an accurate representation of social issues there. I may have to go see it by myself though, we'll see.

We saw this movie and highly recommend it. Our son spent four years in Delhi and we were fortunate to visit him for 2 weeks. The movie is "so India." We noted on our visit that India is a country of contrasts, extreme poverty and extreme wealth. I will never forget the train ride into Delhi, passing the miles of shacks built alongside and between the train tracks. Then there are the high rises. I love the country and its people. Another great movie is Monsoon Wedding. Gail

Why the R rating? I haven't seen it and am wondering since all the previews and promos don't indicate why...

Hmm. I didn't even notice the R rating. And thinking back over the movie I don't even recall any scenes that might warrant it. (even a brief forced prostitution scene was surprisingly NOT graphic!)

Maybe language? But I don't even recall anything offensive.
Perhaps it has to do with some violence. The first 10-20 minutes is a bit hard to watch.
